After winning the Copa America for the second time in his career the 24-year-old Argentine now reportedly wants to leave his club despite having a successful tenure there.
Despite experiencing significant success during his time at Manchester City, Julian Alvarez, who joined the EPL side from River Plate for €41 million in 2022, now wants a move-out. Having won the Copa America twice and making substantial contributions to Man City, including 36 goals and 18 assists in 103 appearances, it's surprising that he wants to depart.

Despite being under contract until 2027 and receiving a new offer for a one-year extension with improved terms, Alvarez has expressed his wish to leave the club. This has come as a shock to the management, with Atletico Madrid showing interest and rumours swirling about potential interest from Premier League sides Chelsea and Arsenal. However, it's unlikely that Man City will let Alvarez go without a significant transfer fee.
The primary reason behind Alvarez's desire to leave seems to be the lack of game time. With strong competition in his positions, including Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, and other experienced and talented midfield options, Alvarez seemingly sees limited opportunities for regular first-team action.
The Argentina international has been in excellent form for both club and country. He is a player who thrives with opportunities and hence warming on the bench is something Alvarez may not want in the upcoming crucial season.
