The Best FIFA Football Awards 2023 ceremony was held on Monday (January 15) in London, England, and was hosted by legendary Thierry Henry and British presenter Reshmin Choudhary as superstars from across the globe were crowned in a range of illustrious categories.
Players who impressed during the relevant qualifying periods were whittled down to three outstanding candidates across seven categories, while selections were made for the FIFA FIFPRO Men's and Women's World 11s.

Plus, the FIFA Fan Award, the FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal, the FIFA Special Award, and the winner of the FIFA Fair Play Award was also announced during the ceremony in London.
Lionel Messi was crowned The Best FIFA Men's Player 2023, retaining the title he won in 2022. Messi topped an incredibly close poll, which was voted for by national team coaches and captains, as well as expert journalists and supporters across the globe.
Messi and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland were locked together on 48 points, but were separated by the number of first-choice nominations received in votes from national team captains. France and PSG striker Kylian Mbappe finished third with 35 points.
Barcelona and Spain World Cup winner Aitana Bonmati was crowned the Best FIFA Women's Player by beating off competition from fellow finalists Linda Caicedo and Jennifer Hermoso for the 2023 award.
England and Manchester United shot-stopper Mary Earps beat Barcelona's Cata Coll and West Ham United's Mackenzie Arnold to the win her second successive Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper award in 2023.
Manchester City's treble winner Ederson Moares of Brazil beat off competition from Morocco's Yassine Bounou and Belgium's Thibaut Courtois for the Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper 2023 award. Brazilian shot-stopper was awarded the honour following a stellar year with City.
Botafogo-SP and Brazilian midfielder Guilherme Madruga won the FIFA Puskás Award 2023 for his astonishing overhead kick. Sporting's Nuno Santos and Brighton teenager Julio Enciso were the other two nominees.
Sarina Wiegman landed her fourth Best FIFA Women's Coach award by beating off competition from Chelsea head coach Emma Hayes and Barcelona head coach Jonatan Giraldez in 2023 race.
Manchester City's treble-winning coach Pep Guardiola beat a couple of Italians - Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti and Inter coach Simone Inzaghi to the Best FIFA Men's Coach 2023 award.
Brazilan great Marta was honoured with The FIFA Special Award in recognition of her illustrious career, while Hugo Daniel "Toto" Iniguez was awarded The FIFA Fan Award for 2023, after a clip feeding his son during an Argentine Primera Division game went viral in May 2023.
The Brazil men's national team were recognised with the FIFA Fair Play award for their powerful stand against racism as the team swapped their traditional yellow jerseys for an all-black kit in a show of solidarity with star forward Vinicius Junior, who had been subjected to racist abuse.
