'The sooner Kalyan Chaubey leaves, better it is for Indian football' - Igor Stimac makes scathing attack on AIFF President

Former India football team coach Igor Stimac has made a scathing attack on AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey after his sacking.

Igor Stimac called for a press meeting on Friday (June 21) to address the media where he opened up on his strained relationship with AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey. Stimac threw huge allegations against the current president for not doing anything for Indian football.

Stimac spoke about the breach of contract and miscommunications with AIFF during his tenure as coach, where the Croatian alleged Kalyan Chaubey for relying on 'social media clicks' and 'taking pictures with famous people'.

"The sooner Kalyan Chaubey leaves AIFF, the better it is for Indian football and it stands a chance. Indian football needs someone who is powerful and influential. The only time Kalyan is powerful is when he walks with armed guards in Kolkata and apart from that no one knows him," Stimac blasted during his chat.

When asked about the conversations with Kalyan Chaubey when Chaubey sat at the helm of Indian football, Igor revealed about the incident during his first meeting with Chaubey.

"We never had a relationship. But I should have a relationship with the general secretary and others to run things. The president should execute the financial matters. When Kalyan came and was elected President, our first meeting in the Hyatt Hotel was for like three minutes and he was watching his watch five times then. I understood how busy he was. Our next meeting was after the SAFF final when I explained many things to him," Stimac said.

At another subsequent meeting, Kalyan Chaubey promised Igor Stimac of many things but the former coach says the AIFF president didn't live up to his words.

Stimac also revealed that competitions such as King's Cup, Merdeka Cup were organized by the AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey without proper communication with Stimac and he deduced that those competitions hampered India's Asian Cup preparation.
