Theo Hernandez Departs AC Milan To Join Al-Hilal As Confirmed By Massimiliano Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed that left-back Theo Hernandez will leave AC Milan to join Al-Hilal. The France international has been pivotal for Milan since 2019, contributing significantly to the team's success.

Massimiliano Allegri, the coach of AC Milan, has confirmed that Theo Hernandez is set to leave the club for Al-Hilal. Since joining from Real Madrid in 2019, Hernandez has been pivotal for Milan, even serving as vice-captain. The French player has made 262 appearances, scoring 34 goals and providing 41 assists while helping achieve 70 clean sheets.

Hernandez played a crucial role in Milan's triumph in the 2021-22 season under Stefano Pioli, securing their 19th Scudetto. Despite a disappointing eighth-place finish in the 2024-25 season, Allegri had hoped Hernandez would be central to his future plans. However, reports indicate that the 27-year-old is nearing a move to Simone Inzaghi's Al-Hilal.

Hernandez Leaves AC Milan for Al-Hilal

During a press conference, Allegri addressed questions about Hernandez's future. He stated: "Theo has made a different choice, he is a great player and I wish him the best of luck." This confirms that Hernandez is indeed leaving AC Milan for new opportunities with Al-Hilal.

When asked about finding a replacement for Hernandez, Allegri expressed confidence in existing players Alex Jimenez and Davide Bartesaghi. "I repeat, I don’t talk about the market. We have Jimenez and Bartesaghi as full-backs and for now, we will work with them," Allegri mentioned. He added that the club and sporting director would address any needs later.

Allegri also commented on his current defensive lineup. He noted that central defenders like Strahinja Pavlovic have potential for growth alongside Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw. Matteo Gabbia was praised for his exemplary behaviour and manners, contributing positively to team dynamics.

Milan's pre-season schedule includes matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, Perth Glory, Leeds United, and Chelsea. These games will prepare them for their first competitive match against Bari in the Coppa Italia on August 17 during Allegri's second tenure.

As AC Milan prepares for upcoming challenges without Theo Hernandez, Allegri remains optimistic about utilising existing talent within the squad. The focus will be on developing players like Jimenez and Bartesaghi while strengthening their defensive strategies with promising talents such as Pavlovic.
