Bengaluru, February 28: Despite some recent struggles, Chelsea number one Thibaut Courtois has claimed his team has the quality to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League as the race for Champions League qualification heats up.

The Blues are struggling to maintain a winning run in the Premier League. They already got stick in the hands of Bournemouth and Watford as they lost two quick consecutive matches, conceding seven goals. They then thumped West Brom 4-0 win and salvaged a 1-1 draw with Barcelona in Champions League.

Hopes were high from their fans and the confidence among the team and supporters were beginning to show. However, they again succumbed, losing to Manchester United 1-2 last week, which now has placed them outside top four, two points below fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea face league leaders Manchester City and Crystal Palace in the following week.

And seeing the form and performance of the team, it's an uphill task for Chelsea to secure a Champions League spot.

Goalkeeper Courtois now has claimed that although things are not looking easy, his team surely has what it takes to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.

“It stays the same, it is tough,” Courtois told the club’s website. “Manchester City are obviously far away, but for the second, third and fourth spot there are five teams so it will be hard until the last match of the season,” he said.

“We have enough quality as we saw on Sunday, and we showed it against Barcelona. We are a very good team but there are some other good teams around us as well.

“I am very disappointed, all the team are after Sunday. The first half at Old Trafford we controlled, we dominated them and we played so well. We scored and then we could have had another one and it is annoying to concede another sloppy goal like on Tuesday against Barcelona.

“In the second half United started to control the game, it was more equal. I don’t think they really deserved to win more than us.

“They changed a bit so as to not let us so much on the ball. They dropped back and they kept three men up for the counter-attack. You have to prepare the counter-attack well, and we did that well in the first half.”
