Thibaut Courtois quashes all transfer rumours for the upcoming summer

Chelsea custodian Thibaut Courtois has quashed all the transfer rumours surrounding him and said that he is going to play at the same club for the upcoming season.

Thibaut Courtois finishes all the transfer rumours for the upcoming summer

London, March 18: Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has finished all the transfer rumours as he confirmed that he will stay in Chelsea until next year.

Since the Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois’ present contract with the Primer League team Chelsea will finish in 2019, La Liga giants Real Madrid and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were ready to put a bid in the upcoming summer.

But recently, Courtois said that he is committed to Chelsea and will be in Chelsea for the upcoming summer.

Recently, Courtois told Standard Sport, “I’m committed to Chelsea. I have a contract until next year and I will be here. I will do my best for it.

He further added, “Obviously there is no extension signed but I don't think now is the moment to do it. I think it is better to wait until the end of the season. All I can say is I'm committed to Chelsea and also committed for next year.”

While Courtois was further asked about his staying assurance with the Chelsea at least for the next summer, he quoted, "I have no other thing to say. It's easy when you have only one year remaining that other people might say something.

He also mentioned that his present focus is on the win the remaining games. He said, “I'm a bit annoyed by it because it's a talking point and it's a thing people went to dwell on. But I think the focus now should be on winning our League games to get a top-four finish and back in the Champions League for next season as well as going through in the FA Cup. That's the most important thing and is what we have to do as a group and for myself as well.”

On Sunday, Chelsea will take on the hosts Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the 2017/18 FC Cup. While Chelsea is currently at the fifth position in the 2017/18 Premier League points table, they recently suffered the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League exit after losing against Barcelona in the round-of-16.

After the first leg had finished by 1-1 at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea lost by 3-0 against Barcelona in the return leg at Camp Nou on last Wednesday night.

Prior to the Sunday’s game against the hosts Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals, Courtois said, “It is important that doesn't happen again and it is what the manager [Antonio Conte] has said to us. We have to take the effort and commitment we showed against Barcelona into the match on Sunday. If we have that same level of commitment, we will win.”

Talking about the Leicester City and FA Cup competition, the Belgian goalie stated, “I know Leicester are a difficult team to face, especially away from home. We will do our best to win. The FA Cup is a great competition. We lost in the final last year and we are hungry to go to Wembley again and do something amazing.”

In the ongoing season, Chelsea has already met twice (both in PL) against Leicester City where they have won once and drawn once. On last September, Chelsea has last time played at King Power Stadium (Leicester City's home ground) where they had won by the 1-2 margin.

Last time, Leicester beat Chelsea in December 2015 when they had won by the 2-1 margin at the King Power Stadium.

Courtois has faced a lot of criticism after performing poorly against Barcelona on the last Wednesday night. However, he is looking forward as he is ready to face Leicester despite he doesn’t know to be featured or not.

The 25-years old goalkeeper said, "I don't know if I will play or not because Willy has done great up till now and it is up to the manager to see who starts. If I play I will be ready and hungry to do my thing again. I don't think I have anything to prove, but I will try to give my best like I do in every game."

However, he also mentioned that he doesn’t believe that they defended badly against Barcelona at Camp Nou. He quoted, "I don't think we defended badly in Barcelona - it was just those individual moments. When we lose the ball like that we are playing really open. But we will do our thing on Sunday. We are facing a big team and have to be ready."
