Manchester United star Paul Pogba can't be like N'golo Kante: Thierry Henry

London, Feb 12: Thiery Henry has pointed out that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has some limitation in his midfield role.

United suffered yet another defeat in consecutive two away games as the second-placed Red Devils bowed down to relegation threatening Newcastle side by 1-0.

United's midfield maestro Pogba again looked out of shape in the game after Spurs game where he was substituted only after the 65th minute.

Against Newcastle, the player again got the same treatment as he was substituted by veteran Carrick with still 25 minutes left to play.

The player looked discomfort with the ball with Matic beside him and was seen making a very little impact in creativeness while attacking in the holding midfield role.

And while talking about Pogba's poor performance following the game, Henry now has claimed that the player is not been involved in a proper set up in recent games and but has told him to accept playing there.

Henry suggested that the former Juventus player is not proficient enough in playing in the holding midfield role like his fellow countrymen N'golo Kante and could only justify his place in a formation where he will be given a free role in advancing forward, however, the player must accept playing out of position at a top club like Manchester United.

“When you have quality people always expect you to do wonders,” Henry said of Paul Pogba on Sky Sports.

“I think the price tag doesn’t help at times because it is what it is.

“In France people like him, people love him but that doesn’t ultimately explain what you need to do on the field or not.

"I don’t think he is a holding midfielder. I didn’t think I was a winger but then I went to Barcelona and they asked me to do a job and [Jose] Mourinho is asking him to do a job.

"But does he have an impact on a game as a holding midfielder in the same way he had an impact against Everton or his Juventus days? At Juventus, he used to play in a certain position where they clearly didn’t trust him in the middle of the park so they played him more on the sides. Then when he is on the ball he can have an amazing impact on the game.

"Can he do a job? Yes he can do a job, but is he N’Golo Kante? No. Kante senses dangers and knows what the ball is going to be. But he has that in his DNA. Paul Pogba has more in his DNA to be up there, create, try to do some skills like we saw against Everton."

Pogba has played 17 matches in the Premier League so far and registered nine assists and three goals to his name so far as Manchester United sit second in the table, 16 points behind Manchester City.
