New Delhi, Aug 29: Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has raised questions about why players like Alexis Sanchez and Alex Chamberlain would remain at Arsenal after their humiliating defeat at Liverpool which he found unacceptable.
The Gunners lost by 4-0 at Anfield on Sunday as the Reds bulldozed the North London side thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Daniel Sturridge.
Sanchez started his first match of the Premier League season in the tie, however, failed to make his mark and was later subbed on. The Chilean was seen laughing and distressed with the loss and many people suggested that it might be the end for the last season's top scorer at Emirates.
The Chilean has been linked with moves far from the club all the Summer and their all time top scorer Henry suggested that with such situation Sanchez would most likely choose to leave considering how poor the group was at the end of the week.
Henry said, "Why would he stay after watching this? After this type of performance? That is why they [Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain] are not renewing their contracts. There is something wrong with Arsenal at the minute.
"It was unwatchable, at one point I wanted to leave. I don't relate to the team and I don't think a lot of the fans do. That is a problem.
"The word I have used for a long time is the comfort. Everything is comfortable at Arsenal. Everyone can stay, you don't try to find out the player you can be, it's ok to play well, and if you're not playing well there's not the pressure you should have at a big club.
"You are not even competing. It's on them to change it, but everything is nice and it cannot be like that."
Both Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlain only have a year on their present Arsenal contracts and both have been offered improved contracts but they turned down the proposal.
Wenger, earlier, suggested that Sanchez will stay at Arsenal regardless of the possibility however it looks like the Copa America winner is now going to Manchester City to reunite with his Barcelona boss Guardiola whereas his teammate Chamberlain could move to the rival club, Chelsea for around £35million.
