Thomas Frank has been appointed as the new head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, as announced by the club on Thursday. Frank, who previously led Brentford since 2018, replaces Ange Postecoglou at the north London club. He has signed a contract that extends until June 2028. The 51-year-old takes over a Spurs team that finished 17th in the Premier League last season.
During his time with Brentford, Frank managed 316 games across all competitions, securing 131 victories and averaging 1.5 points per match. Only Harry Curtis and Malky MacDonald have overseen more matches for Brentford than Frank. Under his guidance, Brentford became an established Premier League team.

The Dane guided Brentford to the Premier League in 2021. Their 10th-place finish in the 2024-25 season was their second-best since promotion, following a ninth-place finish in 2022-23. This achievement highlights Frank's ability to elevate teams within competitive leagues.
Spurs had a challenging previous season, finishing lower than expected and losing 26 games across all competitions. Despite these struggles, they triumphed in the Europa League final in May. Frank's task will be to improve their league performance while maintaining success in European competitions.
Frank will reunite with Johan Lange, Spurs' technical director, with whom he previously worked at Danish club Lyngby. Additionally, Justin Cochrane, a highly-regarded first-team coach from Brentford, will join him at Tottenham. Cochrane returns to Spurs where he began his coaching career.
Frank's first match as head coach will be against Arsenal in a pre-season friendly on July 31 at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium. Following this, they will compete against Bayern Munich in the Telekom Cup before facing Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final on August 13.
This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Tottenham as they aim to climb back up the Premier League standings under Frank's leadership. His experience and past successes suggest he is well-equipped to take on this challenge and bring positive changes to the team.
