Thomas Lemar and Fabinho not for sale, says Vadim Vasilyev

English giants Manchester United and Arsenal suffer a big blow in their pursuit of Thomas Lemar and Fabinho after club official plays down the duo's exit.

Bengaluru, July 27: English giants Manchester United and Arsenal suffer a big blow in their pursuit of Thomas Lemar and Fabinho respectively, after AS Monaco club Vice President declared the duo will not leave the club this window.

The French club have struggled to tie down some of their finest talents this summer following their impressive performance last season where they outshone Paris Saint-German by winning the Ligue 1 title.

Monaco have already lost first team players like Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy and recently, youngster Kylian Mbappe is linked with a big money move to Real Madrid.

To address the future, the club's vice president Vadim Vasilyev spoke on the matter and suggested that after losing so many key stars, the club would not be selling any more of the group that helped them win the Ligue 1 for the first time in 17 years.

Speaking at a press conference, Vasilyev said: "We have kept all of the key players that we intended to keep."

"Fabinho is a must-have player in midfield who was being courted by all the major clubs. I will also address speculation about Lemar: he is staying with us. We have discussed this."

"Both these players have tremendous talent and are essential for our team."

"We must not await further departures, rather arrivals."

Fabinho had been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer and even admitted earlier that he would love to work with manager Jose Mourinho.

However, after recent dialogue from the club official, Jose Mourinho will have to look elsewhere for his defensive midfield target and most likely Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic could be the one name on the list.

While, Arsene Wenger has been very keen on signing Lemar and has reportedly had two bids rejected. Arsenal were set for a fresh offer of around £45 million for the winger.

But with the latest announcement, the French man might have to look for an alternative in the market and his plans might at least be put on hold for now.
