The All India Football Federation (AIFF) recently sacked their head coach Igor Stimac after a series of disastrous results from the Indian football team. However, it wasn't always the same with the Croatian coach. He joined the Blue Tigers to lead them five years ago and soon became a fan favourite.
Under Stimac, India won the Tri-Nation Series and the Intercontinental Cup in 2023, and the SAFF Championship twice in 2021 and 2023. India also now have an amazing squad that could be used to achieve some of their toughest goals. Fans will always remember some games under his guidance.

India's 2023 Intercontinental Cup win was one of the most memorable wins for the team under Stimac. They took on Lebanon whose FIFA ranking was near the same as India. With goals from former skipper Sunil Chhetri and Lallianzuala Chhangte sealed the deal for the Blue Tigers. All the Indian players were extremely impressive on the day.
Including the SAFF Cup final, India have won thrice against Kuwait who are still a tough team to beat. Even so, out of these three, winning the final game was the sweetest. The official 90 minutes of the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The match went into extra time and following that, India won 4-5 in the penalties.
Winning the Tri-Nation Series helped India start the way to winning three trophies in the span of five months. They won their first match against Myanmar by a 1-0 margin but their second win against Kyrgyzstan by a 2-0 margin brought them the trophy. This was an especially important win for the Blue Tigers considering Kyrgyzstan were a higher ranked team.
