Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to make plenty of changes to his squad next summer after a dreadful ongoing campaign. Given their performance a year ago, Liverpool's decline in the current season is astounding.

Last season, Jurgen Klopp and co came within a few points of becoming the first English football club to win a quadruple. Fans were anticipating a stronger season this summer after the club's promising previous campaign, which left them with high expectations. However, the current situation is the exact reverse.

Despite having a big summer and winter transfer window, Liverpool has struggled since the World Cup ended and has sunk to new lows lately. As of right now, they are out of the FA Cup and EFL Cup and are ranked 10th in the League.

They are expected to finish outside the league's Champions League qualifying spots as well. The Anfield team is now dealing with a variety of problems on the field, and their struggles can be justified by a few terrible figures. The German coach could cut loose some of those players and it is now evident that another overhaul could be on the cards ahead of the new season.

If so, here we have taken a look at such three first-team stars who should be sold in order to improve the quality-

Roberto Firmino:

The 30-year-old is one of the big reasons behind Liverpool's rise in recent years, however, he is simply not a reliable player anymore. Firmino's recurring injury issues as well as loss in form have seen him getting sidelined from the first team. The Reds need to replace him with a quality attacker next season. With both Gakpo and Nunez slowly adapting to the new life in England, replacing Firmino next season could be a smart decision.

Joe Gomez:

Once regarded as one of the brightest English defenders, the 25-year-old simply has not been the same with persistent injuries in recent years. Gomez has mostly played as a backup to Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate, and Virgil van Dijk in the playing XI. However, he is yet to grab any opportunity provided by the German manager and has been criticized for his error-prone nature. With age on his side, cashing in on Gomez is likely to be the right decision ahead of the summer.

Fabinho:

Another player who was instrumental to Liverpool's recent success however now is clearly a shadow of his former self. The 29-year-old Brazilian currently has lost his first-team spot to youngster Stefan Bajcetic, which speaks volumes about his struggle. Given he is slowly entering his 30s and his form calling a downward curve, selling him for a newer face will be a wise judgment.
