Just two years after re-appointing Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid are reportedly chalking out plans to replace him.
When Zinedine Zidane decided to resign as manager of Madrid, Ancelotti was rehired to take over. The former PSG and Everton manager has done a good job since his return, leading Los Blancos to the La Liga title as well as guiding them to the UEFA Champions League trophy last season.
Ancelotti has a contract until 2024 at Los Blancos, although there is a possibility that he could leave the club next summer. Ancelotti has already suggested that Real Madrid will be his last club but he could take the position of head coach in a national team. The Italian is reportedly one of the main contenders to take charge of the Brazil national side and talks reportedly have progressed well so far.
In case the approach gets a positive note, the Madrid giants could look at these three options to replace him.
Madrid management reportedly regard the former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino as a prime candidate to replace Ancelotti. President Perez reportedly is impressed with the way he built the foundation at Tottenham and with a potential rebuilding well on the cards, the Argentine manager reportedly is a desired man for the job. Since departing the French champions at the conclusion of last season, Pochettino has been without a position. He would undoubtedly relish the challenge of taking charge of the world champion.
The German manager is also reportedly admired by the Los Blancos and he could well also be approached for the position. Over the years Tuchel has demonstrated his tactical acumen during spells in Borussia Dortmund, PSG, and Chelsea. In all of the sides, he has been pretty successful in terms of trophies as well. Madrid are reportedly aware of the profile and experience Tuchel could bring to Madrid and he could also be one of the favorites for the role.
Similar to Zinedine Zidane, president Florentino Perez could reportedly also promote club legend Raul Gonzalez as the manager if Ancelotti departs. Raul has done a great job at Castilla and that has drawn interest from abroad as well with Leeds United most recently linked with a job. But the Spanish legend is reportedly eager to prove his worth and has made no secret of his desire to take the main job at his former club in the future. If the opportunity arrives, Raul could get a shot at the role next season.
