Erik Ten Hag's rebuild of Manchester United is set to continue next summer, and alongside several potential incoming, the Old Trafford side could expect a lot of departures as well.

A couple of unwanted stars could be sold while a number of players could be let go with their contracts set to expire next summer.

Keeping that in mind, here we have enlisted such four stars who are unlikely to be given a new contract ahead of next summer-

Axel Tuanzebe:

The 25-year-old got a breakthrough under Louis Van Gaal however the English defender is yet to fulfill any promise shown by him. He last played for Manchester United during their 2021 Europa League final. Former manager Solskjaer included him in the ranks last season however after being unable to get a shot in the side, he was loaned to Napoli in the second half of the season. He only played two games over there and after an injury was sent back to the side. The Dutch coach too did not name him in any of the matchdays and in the recently concluded winter window, he was loaned to Stoke City for the remainder of the season. He is unlikely to be involved under the current regime and United are likely to let him go in the summer, with his contract's end.

Tom Heaton:

The English keeper mostly acted as the third-choice keeper in the side to back up De Gea and Dean Henderson after his arrival in 2021. This season however he has been promoted to the deputy of De Gea following Dubravka's return to Newcastle. So far he has only played in three games with two of them coming in this season's EFL Cup. But Heaton is not expected to get a break in the first team soon with United looking for new keepers next season. The English shot-stopper although holds the option of extending his contract by a further year. But it is believed that the keeper could seek a move elsewhere next season and United will not stand in his way.

Phil Jones:

The English defender was out of action for the last few years. He made his return to the team in January last year against the Wolves after almost two years. However, it is evident that he does not command any position on the side. Jones has not even trained a single time under Ten Hag and the Dutch coach has insisted that he does not have a future at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have been trying to ship him off for the last few seasons but nothing materialized. Come summer he will be a free agent and after almost 200 games, Jones is expected to leave the side on a free transfer.
