Three players Liverpool could lose this summer

Jurgen Klopp sent shockwaves in the world of football by announcing his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. The German did extend his deal until 2026 but is leaving the Reds in 2024 which was initially agreed on his deal.

It’s particularly surprising that Liverpool have done so well this season and are enjoying themselves at the top of the table. However, with Klopp’s massive shoes to fill in, things will certainly be difficult at the club right now as the German manager is almost irreplaceable.

Three players who could leave Liverpool this summer

With Klopp leaving, we could see some Liverpool players considering their futures at the club. With a new manager in place, the system could be pretty different and we might see some sort of overhaul in the dressing room. Here, we will take a look at three players who could leave Anfield at the end of the season.

Joel Matip

Joel Matip has been an unbelievable signing for Liverpool upon his free transfer to Anfield. The Cameroonian goes down as one of the best bargains in Premier League history but his time at Liverpool seems to be up. Matip has his contract expiring at the end of the season and has also been ruled out for the season with an ACL injury. Aged 32 now, Matip looks pretty much likely to leave on a free transfer.

Thiago Alcantara

Just like Matip, another player in his thirties has his contract expiring at the end of the season. The Spaniard has just come back from an injury that kept him out since April. While the midfielder is one of the best in the world on his day, injuries have not helped him during his time at Liverpool. And with his deal expiring, Thiago looks pretty likely to leave at the end of the season to play the final years of his career in a less physically demanding league.

Mohamed Salah

Jurgen Klopp has made Liverpool a force to reckon with during his time at the club and the star man for his Reds side has been Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian superstar has been a menace up front over the years and remains the player who regularly makes the difference for the Merseyside giants. However, with Klopp leaving, Salah could also consider his options especially with Saudi Arabian sides vying for his signature since last summer. Salah’s deal at Anfield expires in 2025 and the Reds could consider his sale if they receive an offer too good to turn down and reinvest in a younger player.
