Three players Real Madrid could sign to replace Karim Benzema

After 14 glittering years at the Santiago Bernabeu, star striker Karim Benzema will depart Real Madrid. The French forward has been pivotal to Real Madrid's success in the last decade and a focal point since Cristiano Ronaldo's departure.

He almost single-handedly guided his side to the Champions League trophy last season and earned the 2022 Ballon d'Or in the process.

But Benzema has now rejected a contract proposal and is set to be a free agent. It is understood that will reportedly join Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad on a deal worth a massive £ 172 million a year.

After being an integral part of Los Blancos' all-conquering team it is evident that his departure will be a big setback. Since his exit, several names have been thrown around as his replacement, and as per some rumors, these three players as of now are leading the rumor mills-

Kai Havertz

The German international is reportedly Ancelotti's preferred choice to replace the Frenchman. Not exactly a like-for-like replacement, however, Havertz can act as a central forward or as a false nine in the side.

Chelsea signed Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2020 for a massive £76m and after 32 goals in 139 games, it is evident to say he has had a struggling time at Stamford Bridge.

If Havertz wants to fill Benzema's shoes in Madrid, he would need to drastically improve. The German international, though, is still only 23, and under Ancelotti's coaching, he could increase his level of play.

Harry Kane

A perfect replacement for Benzema who is also a proven goalscorer, the Tottenham Hotspur striker could be a perfect replacement.

With only one year remaining on his Spurs contract, the Premier League's second-highest goal scorer will not be sold to a Premier League rival, according to club chairman Daniel Levy. Therefore, if the striker is determined to depart this summer, Real Madrid may have a major advantage.

Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian striker is a free agent following his exit from Liverpool. He could be a cost-effective option for the La Liga giants. Firmino has been a top player for the Reds and is one of the big reasons behind Liverpool's Premier League and Champions League wins.

Like Benzema, he has the technical ability to drop deep and bring teammates into play. His scoring numbers are also a bit modest compared to Benzema however he surely has what it takes to flourish in the Spanish capital.
