After an abysmal run in the AFC Asian Cup and then the World Cup qualifiers, AIFF have decided to part ways with the Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac. The coach was already in troubled water for some time.
Now it seems he missed his last chance on making good on his promises. There are a few reasons that led to his downfall even though he was a fan favourite for some time.

World Cup qualifiers performance
This time was going to be the record-breaking one for India in the World Cup qualifiers. With Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Qatar in their group, a history-making progression to the third round was expected. However, they fumbled both matches against Afghanistan and one against Kuwait which ended journey for the Blue Tigers.
Unkept promises
After a disastrous AFC Asian Cup campaign, fans and AIFF were not happy with the coach but Igor Stimac promised to take India to the third round of the World Cup qualifiers. He even said he would quit as the head coach of he couldn't keep his promise. Ultimately, he couldn't keep true to his promise and turned back on his words. That became his story in recent times.
He's been the team's coach for five years and he gradually became a fan favourite. However, after so long, he had an impressive squad on his hand and good players for every position. For some, he even had more than one good player but Stimac majorly missed the opportunity to use them properly and get results.
