All India Football Federation recently sacked their head coach Igor Stimac after a series of disastrous performances from the Blue Tigers. The Croatian manager who joined five years ago was a fan favourite but he gradually lost his favour and there were a number of reasons behind it.
Stimac made some promises which he couldn't keep. There were also rumours of him losing favor with AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey and even him relying on astrology for matches. There are some matches the Blue Tigers played under him that almost define the worst side of the Croat.

This year's AFC Asian Cup campaign was the worst run in their history. Neither could the Blue Tigers manage a single win nor could they score a single goal. In a group with Australia, Uzbekistan, and Syria, India began their campaign against the Socceroos which they were bound to lose.
However, their second match was against Uzbekistan and India were expected to manage a win. However, trying to attack and get goals while keeping the defense open cost them the match which they lost by an embarrassing 0-3 margin. The Blue Tigers’ incredible form was completely lost after this match.
India started the World Cup qualifiers on a good note with a surprising 0-1 win against Kuwait. Even though they couldn't hold off Asian Cup champions Qatar in their second match, India's performance was still hopeful. India's best bet to progress in the third round was getting two wins against the weakest opponents in their group Afghanistan.
Yet, they drew 0-0 on the road and lost 1-2 at home. India may have been robbed of their chances of progression in their match against Qatar but their disastrous performances and results against Afghanistan were the reasons for their downfall.in the World Cup qualifiers.
India played the United Arab Emirates back in 2021 in an international friendly. They lost that match by a whopping 6-0 margin. It was their biggest loss in 11 years and it was certainly one of the worst matches in the history of the Blue Tigers under Igor Stimac.
