Thuram Extends Scoring Run After France Confidence Boost For Inter Milan
Inter climbed nine points clear in Serie A after a dramatic 4-3 comeback at Como, with Marcus Thuram scoring twice and then crediting a recent France goal for boosting confidence. Inter overturned a 2-0 deficit, strengthened the Scudetto push, and extended Como’s struggles against Inter at home in the league.
Como had led through first-half strikes from Alex Valle and Nico Paz, punishing hesitant Inter defending. Thuram replied either side of the interval, before Denzel Dumfries also hit a brace. Lucas da Cunha converted a late penalty, but the visitors held firm to secure a rare away victory from two goals behind.

Thuram linked this form directly to a productive international window, when the forward finally opened the France account. "It was good to have a change of scenery, but above all to score for France, that gave me a confidence booster, and I've taken it with me to Inter," Thuram told DAZN after the win.
The France striker had waited since 2023 for that first senior international goal, then carried the momentum straight into Inter’s title chase. Thuram admitted even personal numbers came as a mild surprise, saying: "Did I really score 10 goals? I usually do it a bit earlier in the season, but I got there eventually."
Thuram’s brace against Como lifted the Serie A tally this season to 10 goals. Since the start of last season, Thuram has scored at least two goals in six league matches, with five braces and one hat-trick. No other player in Serie A has reached that number of multi-goal games during the same period.
The consistency stretches across campaigns. Since arriving in Serie A in 2023-24, Thuram is one of only two players to hit double figures in each of the last three seasons, alongside Lautaro Martinez. Inter’s attack is again central to the Scudetto charge, with both forwards contributing heavily in key fixtures.
Marcus Thuram, Inter and Serie A comeback history
The Como result also carried historical weight for Inter. {TABLE_1} Inter won a Serie A away match after trailing by two goals for the first time since March 2013, when Inter overturned Catania. It is already the second league game this season where Inter recovered from a two-goal deficit, after beating Pisa 6-2 in January.
Thuram highlighted the psychological value of such responses when discussing the squad mentality. "Being able to suffer and react as a team is a great sign, and this is a very important victory for us. However, until it is mathematically official, we cannot say anything has been achieved yet," Thuram added, stressing caution about the title.
Como’s perspective told another story. The club missed a chance to move above Juventus into fourth place and strengthen the Champions League push. The defeat ended a seven-game unbeaten run and marked the first time Como had ever lost a Serie A match after going 2-0 ahead, underlining the sense of opportunity missed.
The record against Inter remained difficult for Como, who have now suffered five straight home league defeats to the Milan side. Yet Cesc Fabregas focused on character rather than the table. "I don't know what position we are in the table, because I haven't checked since the start of the season, and I'm not going to now," Fabregas told DAZN Italia.
Fabregas praised the players’ attitude despite the collapse. "My team once again proved it is courageous, eager, and even in defeat showed character. It's true we made mistakes, but this is a young team, and we were up against an opponent that will penalise you for every error." The coach accepted errors while defending the squad’s aggressive approach.
The Como head coach played down tactical debates and preferred hard numbers. "I think talking about tactics today is not appetising to me, because we did our talking on the pitch. I like to look at statistics, and not many sides manage 20 shots on goal against Inter." Fabregas underlined how Como still created sustained pressure.
For Fabregas, competing with Inter itself showed progress. "If you had told me two years ago that we'd be challenging Inter like this, I'd have assumed we had organised a friendly match, but we are fighting them on an even playing field." Inter left with a vital step towards the Scudetto, while Como left with regret but also growing belief.
