Tiger Shroff to Play Professional Football? Bollywood Star Signs for Local Club Mumbai FC as Marquee Player

By Sushruta Bhattacharjee

Bollywood star Tiger Shroff may soon be seen in an entirely different role, as the actor has reportedly signed as the new marquee player for MFA Elite Premier League side Mumbai FC.

Mumbai FC announced the arrival of the 34-year-old actor on social media, writing, “Here we go!! Does it get any bigger?”

Tiger Shroff set for football

This is not the first time that Tiger has been seen on the football pitch. He took part in celebrity matches for the All Stars Footy League, playing as a striker along with celebrities like Ibrahim Ali Khan, Vivian Dsena, and Orry.

However, this latest footballing venture of his is different as it is a professional commitment, with the actor being registered on the AIFF Centralised Registration System, bearing the AIFF CRS ID PL0000401703.

His new club, Mumbai FC, is a newly formed professional club that currently plies its trade in the MFA Elite Premier League. The club was formed in June this year, with the inauguration event attended by footballing stars such as Adil Khan, Amey Ranawade, Rohit Mirza, Jayesh Rane, and Ashutosh Mehta. Retired footballing legend Bhaichung Bhutia, as well as Tiger Shroff himself were also in attendance.

The MFA Elite Premier League is Mumbai’s highest-tier professional football league, representing the fifth tier in the Indian football pyramid.

Tiger Shroff to Fulfil Childhood Dream of Becoming Professional Footballer?

If Tiger Shroff indeed takes to the pitch with a football at his feet, he will be fulfilling a dream that he harboured since his childhood. In an interview in 2021, while promoting his movie, the Heropanti star revealed that he wanted to become a footballer and represent India in international tournaments when he was a child.

“I wanted to be a footballer. I was passionate about football,” Tiger said in the interview, as per IndiaToday. “In school, after cricket, football was the only sport that was hyped. While I wanted to become a footballer and represent the country, I didn't get a chance.”

It seems like a belated dream-come-true scenario for the actor, who will now take on a hero’s role in a new arena. Instead of dealing with lights and cameras, he will deal with opposition defenders and goalkeepers in a bid to lead his team to a successful MFA Elite Premier League campaign.
