Tottenham Hotspur has made a significant mid-season move, securing the loan signing of German forward Timo Werner from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.
The 27-year-old striker, previously associated with Chelsea, will don the number 16 jersey for the English club until the end of the season, with an option for a permanent deal in the summer.

The official statement released by Tottenham Hotspur expressed the club's delight in acquiring the services of the seasoned German international, subject to international clearance. Having struggled to make a lasting impact during his tenure with Chelsea, scoring 10 goals in 56 league appearances over two years, Werner is eager to rejuvenate his form with Tottenham, the arch-rival of his former club.
In his exclusive first interview with SPURSPLAY, Werner shared his excitement about joining the prestigious club, highlighting the allure of playing for a team of Tottenham's stature. "First of all, I'm very happy to be here.
I've joined a very, very big club," he said. "We have often played against each other already - it doesn't matter if I was playing for Chelsea or Leipzig, they were always big, big games to play against Spurs - and now I'm happy to be part of the team at the Club, and I'm really looking forward to it."
Werner cited the pivotal role of the manager in influencing his decision to join Tottenham. "A lot of things attracted me here - first of all, the talk with the manager.
I thought it was a really good talk; he gave me straight away the feeling that I need to join a club, what I want to feel when you talk to a manager, and also the tactics and the style, how he wants to play, how he lets the team play," Werner explained.
The allure of Tottenham's iconic stadium, where every match is a special occasion, and the presence of talented teammates further contributed to Werner's decision.
"Then the stadium, to play there every game is something special, and also the team, I think we have some very good players. All of it was very interesting to me," he added.
As Timo Werner embarks on this new chapter with Tottenham Hotspur, both the player and the club are optimistic about a successful partnership that will see him rediscover his goal-scoring prowess in the Premier League.
