1. Virgil van Dijk from Southampton to Liverpool
Liverpool failed to get their man in summer but eventually signed the Dutch defender in January and that too on a world record fee for a defender. Liverpool have a tendency of giving away cheap goals and to bolster their sloppy defence, Klopp made such a massive signing on a fee that is unlike Liverpool.
This deal surely deserves a place in the list of top three transfers made in January.
2. Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal to Manchester United
After a long saga involving the two Manchester clubs, it was Manchester United who won the race for Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean moved to Old Trafford from the Emirates in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving the other way.
One of the best players in the Premier League, Sanchez is one of the best signings made in January.
3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal
Arsenal made a massive statement by signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund after losing Sanchez. One of the best strikers in the world with an incredible goalscoring ability, the Gabon international has been the best signing of the window.
With Aubameyang and Mkhitryan on board and Ozil signing a new contract, Arsenal have had the best window among all the Premier League sides.
4. Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao to Manchester City
The French international Laporte is a left-footed defender. He was a first-team regular at Bilbao since breaking through in the 2012-13 season and he helped them win the 2015 Spanish Super Cup. He clocked up a total of 222 appearances for the Basque club, scoring 10 goals.
He surely will add much needed strength to City backline as Guardiola wanted to add another centre back to his squad to challenge Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones with ongoing injury concerns surrounding captain Vincent Kompany.
