Yves Bissouma marked his return with a goal, and Son Heung-min scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur defeated Everton 4-0 on Saturday. This victory was Tottenham's first win of the 2024-25 Premier League season. Spurs had previously drawn 1-1 against Leicester City in their opening match but showed no mercy against Everton.
Bissouma set the tone early, scoring a stunning 20-yard goal in the 14th minute, his first for the club. Just 11 minutes later, Jordan Pickford's mistake allowed Son an easy finish, putting Tottenham firmly in control at their home stadium. Everton, who lost 3-0 to Brighton in their first match, struggled to cope with the pressure.

In the second half, Everton introduced new signings Dame Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom to bolster their attack. Lindstrom managed to force a rare save from Guglielmo Vicario. However, Cristian Romero's towering header on his 100th appearance for Tottenham extended the lead in the 71st minute.
Son Heung-min capped off a brilliant performance with his second goal after a fantastic run by Micky van de Ven. This marked Son's achievement of scoring multiple goals in 20 different Premier League games for Tottenham, a feat only surpassed by Harry Kane (47 times).
Everton remains at the bottom of the standings with zero points after two matches. They are one of four teams yet to secure any points this season. In contrast, Tottenham has accumulated four points from their two games.
This defeat means Everton has lost their opening two games by an aggregate score of 7-0. It's the first time they have lost their first two top-flight games by three or more goals in their history. Additionally, they join Bournemouth as the only teams to lose their opening two Premier League games in three consecutive seasons (2015-16 to 2017-18).
The introduction of Ndiaye and Lindstrom provided some attacking impetus for Everton but was not enough to change the outcome. Romero's header and Son's second goal sealed a comprehensive victory for Tottenham.
The result leaves Everton rooted at the bottom of the table while Tottenham enjoys a strong start to their campaign with four points from two matches.
