Tottenham Embraces Reset Following Third Consecutive Premier League Victory, Says Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou highlights Tottenham's improved performance and squad depth after their third straight Premier League win. The team's resurgence is attributed to returning players from injury, boosting morale and confidence.

Ange Postecoglou is optimistic about Tottenham's recent performances, highlighting the squad's depth as a key factor. Their 4-1 triumph over Ipswich Town marked their third consecutive Premier League win, a feat not achieved since December 2023. Brennan Johnson netted twice, assisted by Son Heung-min, while Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski also scored at Portman Road.

Postecoglou praised his players for embracing a reset in their approach. "The fact that we can throw people on from the bench who can contribute means everyone gets a boost," he stated. The return of several players from injury has inspired this positive shift in fortunes for Spurs.

Tottenham Embraces Reset After Third Win

Despite the convincing scoreline, the match was uncertain until Spence's goal 13 minutes before full time. Kulusevski added another to seal the victory. Postecoglou acknowledged Ipswich's hard work, noting that Spurs had to battle through the first half but improved significantly in the second.

"Ipswich are one of the hardest-working teams in the league," said Postecoglou. "We had to weather that storm, but we were always a threat." He praised Son Heung-min's performance and expressed delight at Johnson's return, emphasising his goal-scoring prowess.

Johnson's two goals were particularly meaningful as his father, David, played for Ipswich between 1997 and 2001. Brennan now boasts nine league goals this season and remains optimistic about Spurs' potential when their best players are fit.

"He [David] had a great time here," Johnson said of his father's connection to Ipswich. "For me, it was about getting the three points for Tottenham." He stressed the importance of maintaining momentum after recent victories.

Challenges for Ipswich Town

Ipswich suffered their seventh defeat in eight home league games and are five points away from safety in 18th place. Manager Kieran McKenna saw positives but admitted time is running out to avoid relegation.

"We created more than enough chances," McKenna told BBC Match of the Day. "To win, we have to improve." He emphasised that while progress is evident, accumulating points is crucial as February progresses.

Looking ahead, Spurs will face Manchester City at home on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Ipswich will travel to Old Trafford to play Manchester United as they continue their fight against relegation.
