Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou expressed frustration over his team's lack of a clinical finish in their 1-1 draw against Leicester City on Monday. Despite dominating much of their Premier League opener at King Power Stadium, Spurs only managed Pedro Porro's first-half goal. Jamie Vardy's second-half equaliser punished the visitors for their missed opportunities.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, Postecoglou said, "It was a disappointing outcome for us. I thought we were excellent first half and controlled the game. Really dominant with our football but just wasteful in front of goal and the same in the second half and when that happens you keep the opposition in the game." He added that they created chances but lacked composure and ruthlessness, which are areas needing improvement.

Spurs had several clear chances through debutant Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, and Richarlison but failed to convert them into goals. Postecoglou emphasised the need for dominance to be reflected in the scoreline. "We created chances and weren't ruthless enough at other times lacking composure. It's stuff we need to fix," he stated.
Steve Cooper, managing his first game as Leicester boss since replacing Enzo Maresca, earned a point thanks to Vardy's equaliser. Despite missing much of pre-season due to injury, Vardy proved crucial for Leicester. Cooper told Sky Sports that starting Vardy was an easy decision after a conversation a few days prior.
"It was a straightforward decision," Cooper said. "Three days ago we were without an experienced striker. He just showed so much desire to play. Had it been on Saturday he probably wouldn't have played but luckily it wasn't. He did what he does."
The match saw Tottenham dominate possession and create numerous scoring opportunities but ultimately failed to secure all three points. The result leaves both teams sharing points as they look ahead to their next fixtures.

Postecoglou will now focus on addressing these issues before their next match, aiming for better execution in front of goal. Meanwhile, Cooper will be pleased with his team's resilience and Vardy's performance despite limited pre-season preparation.
