Tottenham Hotspur's Performance Falls Short As Ange Postecoglou Concedes Team's Struggles In Premier League

Ange Postecoglou acknowledges Tottenham Hotspur's disappointing performance following a 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace. The team struggles in the Premier League, currently sitting at 17th place.

Tottenham Hotspur's manager, Ange Postecoglou, admitted his team fell short of expectations after a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at home. This loss leaves Spurs in 17th place in the Premier League standings. Despite reaching the Europa League final, the team struggled against Palace, who could have scored more if not for two disallowed goals.

Postecoglou made eight changes to the squad that secured a spot in the Europa League final by defeating Bodo/Glimt. However, these adjustments did not pay off as Spurs were outplayed by Palace. "I'm disappointed," Postecoglou told Sky Sports. "It's clear we're not anywhere near the level we need to be."

Tottenham Hotspur Faces Challenges in Premier League

The manager has been rotating his squad frequently due to their European commitments, which he believes has affected their league performance. "The issue is making multiple changes; we aren't reacting well to that," he explained.

Adding to Tottenham's woes, Dejan Kulusevski left the field injured after just 20 minutes. However, Postecoglou remains optimistic about his availability for the Europa League final. "He should be ok," said Postecoglou. "I just spoke to him. The medical team are not concerned about him; it was just a knock."

Crystal Palace's head coach, Oliver Glasner, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance as they prepare for the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley. "We created so many situations and then you need those players in the box to score the goals," Glasner told Sky Sports.

Eberechi Eze was instrumental in Palace's victory, scoring twice and continuing his impressive form with goals in three consecutive league matches for the first time in his career. Glasner praised Eze's contributions: "It's good to have him in good shape," he said. "He's scored some amazing goals."

Spurs have suffered 20 league defeats this season and 24 across all competitions, nearing their record of 25 losses set in the 1991-92 season. Despite these setbacks, Postecoglou remains focused on improving team performance and addressing issues caused by frequent lineup changes.

As Tottenham looks ahead to their upcoming fixtures, they aim to regain form and stability while managing player fitness and injuries effectively. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is eager to build on their recent success as they approach a significant milestone with hopes of securing their first major trophy at Wembley next week.
