Bengaluru, August 10: Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has assured the fans that they will sign the required players before the end of the transfer window and are yet to sign a new player this summer due to a 'clear philosophy and plan'.
Last season's Premier League runners up are presently the only side without signing a single player this window despite selling players like Kyle Walker, Nabil Bentaleb, Clinton N'Jie and Federico Fazio for close to £72million.
Tottenham's reluctance to spend while their title rivals are signing new players by spending huge amounts has caused concern amongst the fans as they feel the team can't compete with a thin squad in four competitions next season.
However, manager Pochettino has now assured the fans that they should show faith in the club and there will be new signings made before the window closes on August 31.
In an interview on Sky Sports, Pochettino said that he anticipates that Spurs will make new signings before the window shuts by the end of the month. But the club will only sign those players that will have the capacity to push the first team stars like Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli.
"It is so difficult when you have a very good team and at a club like Tottenham you have a very clear philosophy and a plan that you want to follow," the Argetine said.
"It is not easy to find right footballer. I think we are working and we'll add some players to the end of the transfer window."
"We need players who can challenge our starting XI, players who believe in themselves and think 'OK, I can challenge Dele Alli, I can challenge Harry Kane."
"Harry Kane knows very well from when he was behind [Roberto] Soldado and [Emmanuel] Adebayor what happens when you're not focused for a moment, if another player is behind you pushing for a chance if you don't give your best."
"We need to bring some new energy and strengthen our squad. I think everyone knows that - and first of all our chairman, Daniel [Levy], knows that."
"He's working hard with the chief scout Steve [Hitchen] and we are working hard too to deliver it and to add and strengthen to the team that we need to fight for competitions next season."
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the likes of Ross Barkley, Riyad Mahrez and Joao Cancelo, however, the deals are in the initial stages and are far away from being finalised.
