Tottenham suffered a 3-2 Premier League defeat at Bournemouth, decided by a 95th-minute goal, leaving Thomas Frank describing the result as extremely painful for everyone at the club. The loss was Tottenham's sixth in their last 12 league matches and kept the team under heavy pressure near the lower half of the table.

The decisive moment came when Antoine Semenyo struck deep into added time, with Andoni Iraola later confirming it would be Semenyo's final appearance for Bournemouth. Earlier, Mathys Tel had given Tottenham the lead before Evanilson and Junior Kroupi turned the game around, and Joao Palhinha's late equaliser still did not secure a point.

Defeat at Bournemouth added to worrying Premier League numbers for Tottenham. Since the beginning of last season, only Wolves have lost more league games, with 36 defeats compared to Tottenham's 30. That total puts Tottenham level with West Ham and Southampton over the same spell, and the current league position underlines growing concern.

Emotions spilled over after the final whistle, as several Tottenham players appeared to react to criticism from the away section. Joao Palhinha, Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven were all seen confronting travelling supporters. Frank, however, avoided escalating tensions when speaking post-match and chose to praise the backing received from the away crowd.

"I think the travelling fans were amazing today, their support throughout the game was very, very good," he said. "The players are frustrated, I'm frustrated, the fans are hurt, we're all hurt. I think it is fair to say there have been ups and downs, but the last four performances have been strong and competitive."

The Bournemouth loss was the first time Tottenham had been beaten by a 90th-minute goal in the Premier League since November 2023. On that occasion, Tottenham led Wolves 1-0 as the clock reached 90 minutes but still lost 2-1. The latest setback again raised questions about game management in the closing stages.

"That's football, unfortunately. It's extremely painful to be on the Tottenham side after that game," Frank added, speaking to BBC Match of the Day. "We put everything into the game, the boys worked really hard, the staff worked so hard to come down here and try to get a result. We went 1-0 up, then conceded two second-phase goalsespecially with the second one, we have to do much better. Then in the second half, the character and mentality, the focus to stay in the game and keep going against a difficult counter-attacking team... it was very pleasing to see. I thought we were closer to winning than Bournemouth were."

Attention is now turning towards the January transfer window, with many Tottenham supporters calling for new arrivals to change the team's direction. Frank accepted that the current squad needs extra quality and depth and confirmed that the club are already active, evaluating options to strengthen key areas during the mid-season market.

"We are very much in the market and working very hard to do what we can to improve the squad," he added. "January is a tough window and we only want to get players in if they improve the team."

Frank also highlighted the effort shown across recent matches, stressing that performances had improved despite the poor result against Bournemouth. The head coach underlined that the staff and players would continue working to address late-game lapses, while league statistics and table position show the scale of the task facing Tottenham.
