Tottenham Hotspur Women Confirm Departure Of Head Coach Robert Vilahamn After Disappointing Season

Tottenham Hotspur Women have parted ways with head coach Robert Vilahamn after nearly two years. His tenure included a sixth-place finish and an FA Cup final appearance, but recent poor performances led to this decision.

Tottenham Hotspur Women's team has decided to part ways with Robert Vilahamn after nearly two years. The club confirmed this decision on Sunday, following reports of his impending dismissal. Vilahamn's first season saw Spurs finish sixth in the Women's Super League and reach their inaugural FA Cup final, which they lost to Manchester United. Despite these achievements, the team's performance declined in the subsequent season. In the 2024-25 season, Tottenham finished 11th in the WSL, just above relegated Crystal Palace by 10 points and below Leicester City on goal difference. This disappointing outcome came after Vilahamn had signed a three-year contract extension through to 2027, following his initial success. His tenure ended with a win percentage of 29.6%, having secured only 13 victories in 44 league matches.

During his time at Spurs, Vilahamn struggled to maintain consistent results. The team averaged only 1.2 points per game under his leadership. They failed to secure a win in their last ten WSL matches, managing just three draws in that period. Their last victory was against Crystal Palace in January.

"We should like to thank Robert for his professionalism and efforts over the past two seasons," Rogers stated.Vilahamn's departure comes shortly after Ange Postecoglou was dismissed from Tottenham's men's team, despite winning the Europa League final just over two weeks prior. The club is now looking ahead to find new leadership for both teams as they aim to improve their standings in future competitions. The decision marks a significant shift for Tottenham as they seek better results moving forward. With changes happening across both men's and women's teams, the club is poised for a fresh start next season.
