Tottenham Hotspur Secures Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky From Slavia Prague Amid Selection Crisis

Tottenham Hotspur have secured the services of Antonin Kinsky, a Czech Republic U21 international goalkeeper, from Slavia Prague. The deal, reportedly worth £12.5 million, extends until 2031. This acquisition aims to address Tottenham's current goalkeeping challenges. Their first-choice keeper, Guglielmo Vicario, is sidelined with a broken ankle sustained during their 4-0 win over Manchester City in November.

Vicario's absence has significantly impacted Spurs' performance, with the team winning only two out of 11 matches across all competitions since his injury. Fraser Forster, serving as the backup goalkeeper, managed just one clean sheet against Southampton in December. However, he was also unavailable for their recent 2-1 loss to Newcastle.

The goalkeeping crisis led to Brandon Austin making his professional debut for Tottenham at age 25. Despite being part of the senior squad since 2017, he had not played until now. Austin conceded twice in his first match and may not get another chance soon with Kinsky's arrival.

Kinsky has been impressive this season with Slavia Prague, featuring in 29 matches and achieving 14 clean sheets. His debut for Tottenham could be against Tamworth on January 12th. Additionally, he might play in the north London derby against Arsenal three days later.
