Bengaluru, December 17: Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly said to be looking to sign £53million-rated winger Federico Chiesa.
La Stampa via TMW claims Fiorentina have slapped the price-tag on their key man following a humongous amount of interest from across Europe.
Spurs are interested in the 20-year-old but will face competition from Italy's biggest sides like Juventus, Napoli, Roma and French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Chiesa has emerged as one of the best young players in Serie A after breaking into Fiorentina’s first team last year.
The youngster has scored four goals in 14 appearances this season and has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of his father, former Italy international Enrico Chiesa.
However, it appears teams will have to spend big money to secure the fleet-footed winger, who can also play as a secondary striker or central midfielder.
Tottenham have struggled to replicate last season’s form which saw them finish second in the Premier League to Chelsea.
Erik Lamela has only just returned to the pitch after more than a year out with injury, while Dele Alli and Harry Kane are finding it hard to impress on a regular basis.
The Lilywhites were thrashed 4-1 by Manchester City on Saturday and Pochettino must be concerned about his team's poor showing in both attack and defence.
Should he join Spurs, Chiesa should become a starter on the right-hand side. Even if he does not, he would surely provide plenty of depth to the side.
Chiesa would also be eligible to play in the Champions League, and his experience in Italy could come in handy during two legs against current Serie A champions Juventus in the round of 16.
Chiesa would provide enough competition to the likes of Heung-Min Son and Erik Lamela and even Dele Alli given the run of form the Englishman is in.
