Arne Slot has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be available for Liverpool's EFL Cup semi-final second-leg match against Tottenham on Thursday due to a suspected thigh injury. Alexander-Arnold was substituted by Conor Bradley in the 70th minute during Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League last Saturday.
Alexander-Arnold has been a key player for Liverpool this season, missing only one Premier League match due to a hamstring issue. He has created 45 chances, second only to Mohamed Salah's 52. Despite his absence, Liverpool aims to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg against Tottenham and secure a spot at Wembley.

Slot expressed satisfaction with his current squad, despite no new signings during the January transfer window. Liverpool, along with Chelsea, Arsenal, Fulham, and Newcastle United, did not make any additions mid-season. However, several players like Jayden Danns, Stefan Bajcetic, and Kaide Gordon were loaned out temporarily.
"We have a very good squad," Slot stated. "The league table shows that our trust in them was correct." He highlighted that apart from Alexander-Arnold's recent injury, there are no long-term absentees. Joe Gomez is the only significant injury concern currently.
Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones have returned to the team after recovering from injuries. Slot noted that previous injury issues with Alisson and Diogo Jota have been resolved. "Apart from Trent now, they were all available today," he mentioned regarding their recent match at Vitality Stadium.
Liverpool's decision not to add new players unless necessary is evident in their approach. Slot cited the example of signing goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili when an opportunity arose in the market. For now, he remains content with the existing team composition.
The Reds face a challenging task without one of their primary creators as they prepare for Thursday's crucial encounter against Tottenham. Slot remains hopeful about Alexander-Arnold's recovery timeline but confirmed his unavailability for this upcoming match.
