Thomas Frank praised Bryan Mbeumo for his composure after a retaken penalty secured Brentford's win over Crystal Palace. The Bees achieved consecutive Premier League away victories with a 2-1 triumph at Selhurst Park, where Kevin Schade also scored. The game turned in Brentford's favour when Maxence Lacroix fouled Nathan Collins, leading to a penalty.
Mbeumo initially hit the post with his penalty, but after Marc Guehi was penalised for encroachment following a VAR review, he successfully converted the retake, sending Dean Henderson the wrong way. This marked Mbeumo's ninth successful Premier League penalty for Brentford, making him one of only five players in the league to score all nine or more attempts.

Frank expressed satisfaction with Mbeumo's resilience after missing his first attempt. "I would want him to take it again," Frank stated. "He's our best penalty taker. It's all about trusting the process, and he did." He acknowledged the challenge posed by Palace, noting their strong defence and front three.
The Brentford manager highlighted his team's solid performance against a formidable opponent. "We defended very well and gave basically nothing away," Frank added. "We handled their front three very well." The victory was crucial for Brentford as they continue their Premier League campaign.
Mbeumo emphasised the importance of mental strength and preparation in taking penalties. "I work on them a lot and I had the chance to take a second one," he said. "I just focused on myself. It's all about mentality at this point." He acknowledged the significance of securing three points against a tough opponent.
"They defended really well, really compact," Mbeumo noted. "The calmness and the attitude we showed today helped." His focus and determination were key factors in Brentford's success on the day.
Crystal Palace experienced their first defeat in seven matches across all competitions despite Romain Esse scoring on his Premier League debut in the 85th minute. Oliver Glasner lamented his team's inability to find an equaliser late in the game.
"Both teams neutralised each other for a lot of the time," Glasner commented. "It looked like the team who made the first mistake would lose." He acknowledged that Palace struggled to clear the ball effectively, resulting in a penalty that shifted momentum towards Brentford.
Glasner reflected on his team's performance, stating it was satisfactory but not exceptional. "We knew it would be a long [period of stoppage time], and I think we started too early with the long balls," he added. "The performance was okay; not brilliant, but not too bad."
