Thomas Tuchel Selects Dan Burn And Myles Lewis-Skelly For First England Squad

Head coach Thomas Tuchel has named his first England squad, including debutants Dan Burn and Myles Lewis-Skelly. Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford return after previous omissions.

Dan Burn and Myles Lewis-Skelly are set to make their England debuts after being selected by head coach Thomas Tuchel. At 32, Burn has yet to play for England at any level but has made 27 appearances for Newcastle United in the Premier League this season. Lewis-Skelly, aged 18, debuted for Arsenal in September and has become a key player, featuring in 25 matches across all competitions.

Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah are also aiming for their first senior caps. Both have been called up before but have not yet played. Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford have been recalled to the national team. Henderson transferred to Ajax from Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia during the 2023-24 season to enhance his England prospects.

Tuchel's First England Squad Features New Faces

Henderson's international career seemed over after missing out on the Euro 2024 squad. His last cap was against Malta at Wembley in November 2023. Rashford, who was also left out of the European Championship squad due to a dip in form at Manchester United, is yet to score while on loan at Aston Villa but has provided four assists. The forward has previously earned 60 caps for England.

The goalkeepers selected include Dean Henderson from Crystal Palace, Everton's Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale of Southampton, and James Trafford from Burnley. Defenders named are Dan Burn (Newcastle United), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Reece James (Chelsea), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal), Tino Livramento (Newcastle United), Jarell Quansah (Liverpool), and Kyle Walker (AC Milan on loan from Manchester City).

The midfield lineup features Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid, Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace, Ajax's Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones from Liverpool, Chelsea's Cole Palmer, Declan Rice of Arsenal, and Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. The forwards include Jarrod Bowen from West Ham United, Phil Foden of Manchester City, Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, Bayern Munich's Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, and Dominic Solanke of Tottenham Hotspur.

This selection marks a significant moment for several players hoping to make an impact on the international stage under Tuchel's leadership. The inclusion of both experienced players like Henderson and emerging talents such as Lewis-Skelly highlights a blend of youth and experience in the squad.
