In recent years, South America has emerged as a hotbed of potential talents and the latest in the line could be 23-year-old Argentine striker Mateo Retegui.

The Argentine youngster has popped up on the radar of European bigwigs following his impressive spell for Club Atletico Tigre while on loan from Boca Juniors.

The 23-year-old has come from the ranks of the Boca Juniors after arriving from River Plate in March 2016. However, he is yet to break into the Argentine giant's team and mostly has featured on several loan spells.

He recorded his best-ever figure last season in the Argentine first division where he scored 23 goals and managed three assists in 42 games. The target man has continued his good form in Argentine Primera Division this season as well with three goals in two games which just started in January. Unsurprisingly his rich form has generated a good number of interest from Europe and according to recent rumors, Manchester United and Real Madrid are two of the interested sides.

Manchester United want Mateo Retegui:

The Red Devils are looking to sign a profound number nine following the departure of Ronaldo last year. United signed Wout Weghorst in January on a temporary deal and there is a chance that they sign him on a permanent deal next summer. But at the age of 30, he would only be a temporary solution. Moreover, due to Anthony Martial’s never-ending fitness issues, Manchester United might need a couple of strikers in the ranks, and in that regard, interest in Retegui makes sense.

Real Madrid want Mateo Retegui:

Real Madrid, on the other hand, are also looking for a new attacking face in the ranks with Mariano Diaz expected to leave the side in the summer. Karim Benzema is likely to lead the line next season as well while the club could jump in for a well-acknowledged striker. But the La Liga giants will look for more quality in the ranks and Retegui is the type of player Madrid could bring in to improve the squad strength.
