Madrid, Feb 12: Jose Mourinho said "the match the world is waiting for" as his side prepare to take on Manchester United in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Real Madrid won the league last time out beating fierce rivals Barcelona, but this season the Los Blancos are struggling. Real are currently 16 points below Barcelona in third place.

Real Madrid vs Man United predictions

United, on the other hand, have been in excellent form throughtout the season, both in the Premier League and in Europe. The Red Devils are 12 points clear off rivals and defending champions Manchester City.

United topped Group H while Madrid came second to Borrusia Dortmund in Group D.

Sir Alex Ferguson fielded a strong side against Everton on Sunday with United winning 2-0, but the real test will be at the Bernabeu, undoubtedly United's biggest game of the season.

Ronaldo faces his former side for the time since that record breaking move from Old Trafford to Madrid. The 28-year old Portuguese superstar has been scoring goals for fun and wouldn't mind giving a hard time to United's back-line.

Ronaldo already has 24 league goals in 22 appearances this season and has also netted six times in Europe. United will be concerned about stopping Ronaldo, who scored a hat-trick against Sevilla at the weekend. Ronaldo and Robin van Persie are favourites to score on Wednesday along with Wayne Rooney.

Statistics suggest a win for Real Madrid, but they have failed to keep a clean sheet in the Champions League this season. Moreover, United have not won away to Real Madrid in four matches.

However, United will be wary of Madrid's counter attacking football but will look to get an away goal at any cost. A score draw is the most likeliest of results but these two teams would like go into the second-leg with an advantage.
