The UEFA Champions League 2024/25 group stage is reaching its climax, with the tournament entering Game Week 6 on Tuesday, December 10.
Premier League giants like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal are vying for spots in the knockout rounds. While Liverpool has already secured progression, Arsenal and Manchester City face varying levels of challenge to guarantee qualification.

Below, we break down the qualification scenarios for each club, outlining the points they need and analysing their upcoming matches.
Liverpool leads the standings with a perfect record of 15 points from five matches. Their commanding performances, including a recent 2-0 victory over Real Madrid, have secured them a place in the knockout stage, making them the first team to achieve qualification in the new UCL format.
Having already progressed, Liverpool's focus will be on securing a top-eight finish for better seeding in the next round. Wins in their remaining matches would ensure they avoid facing stronger opposition early in the knockouts.
Arsenal currently sits in 7th place with 10 points. A win against Monaco on Matchday 6 would virtually secure them a top-eight spot. However, dropping points could put their direct qualification at risk.
If Arsenal loses to Monaco on Matchday 6, their chances of direct qualification for the UEFA Champions League knockouts could become precarious. With 10 points, they would remain at risk of being overtaken by teams below them, depending on other results.
To still secure direct qualification, Arsenal would need to win their remaining two fixtures against GNK Dinamo and Girona while aiming for a superior goal difference compared to other teams vying for the top eight.
For playoff qualification, a single win in their final two matches might suffice to keep Arsenal within the top 16. However, a loss to Monaco would mean they cannot afford any further slip-ups and would need to at least draw against GNK Dinamo or Girona to remain in contention.
City, in 17th place with 8 points, faces an uphill task. To secure direct qualification into the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, Manchester City must aim to finish in the top eight. This requires them to accumulate maximum points from their final three matches, starting with a crucial away game against Juventus.
Wins in all three fixtures, including subsequent encounters against Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge, are essential to leapfrog teams currently ahead. Achieving nine points would likely propel City into the top eight, ensuring direct qualification and a favourable seeding in the last 16.
For playoff qualification, which is available for teams finishing between 9th and 16th, City needs at least six points from their remaining games. A win against Juventus combined with positive results against PSG and Brugge should solidify their place within the top 16.
This would allow them to enter the playoffs, where they could face lower-ranked teams for a chance to progress further. However, finishing lower in this range could make their playoff path more challenging due to unfavourable seedings.
