Liverpool player celebrate with manager Jurgen Klopp

Bengaluru, September 12: Liverpool will make their much-awaited return to the Champions League group stage when they take on Sevilla at Anfield on Wednesday (September 13) night in their opening group E encounter.

The Reds will be keen to take revenge against Sevilla for their defeat at the hands of the Spanish side in the Europa League final back in 2016.

These two clubs met in the Europa League final in 2016, with Sevilla running out 3-1 winners on that occasion but the game had fair share of controversies as Liverpool were robbed by the referee on more than one occasion.

They have both now made the step up to Europe's top competition and will be considered the two favourites to progress from Group E.

Klopp’s side may come after a 5-0 defeat on Etihad Stadium, but their home record so far is encouraging.

They won both of their home matches in Premier League (4-0 against Arsenal and 1-0 against Palace) while they managed to score 4 goals in Anfield against Hoffenheim during the UCL qualifications.

Sevilla are having a good start of the season in Primera Division where they occupy the third place after the first 3 rounds. Sevilla comes after 2 victories in a row and should be a confident side on Anfield.
