Unforced Errors By AC Milan Result In Draw Against Fiorentina In Serie A Match

Sergio Conceicao highlighted unforced errors as the reason for AC Milan's 2-2 draw against Fiorentina. The team struggles to secure Champions League qualification, sitting ninth in Serie A.

AC Milan's recent performance against Fiorentina in Serie A highlighted their struggle with unforced errors, according to Sergio Conceicao. Despite falling behind early with a Malick Thiaw own goal and Moise Kean's strike, Milan managed a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic. However, their chances of securing a Champions League spot are dwindling, with Opta giving them just a 0.2% chance of finishing fourth.

Milan's current tally of 48 points marks only the third time in the last decade they have failed to reach 50 points by this stage, previously occurring in the 2015-16 and 2019-20 seasons when they finished seventh and sixth respectively. Conceicao emphasised the need for significant improvements if they aim to finish the season on a high note.

AC Milan Draws with Fiorentina After Errors

Conceicao pointed out that individual mistakes were not limited to defence but were evident across the team. "There are some behaviours that we are trying to improve... These are behaviours of football and football school that you learn as a kid," he told Sky Sport. He also noted Milan's struggle with missing numerous scoring opportunities despite creating many chances.

Currently sitting ninth in the table, Milan have earned seven points from their last seven matches. They trail eighth-placed Fiorentina by four points and are eight points behind Bologna, who have an extra game to play. Despite these setbacks, Milan has shown resilience by gaining the most points from losing positions in Serie A this season, tied with Bologna at 16 points.

Conceicao praised his team's preparation and communication efforts, stating, "We talk to each other, we prepare the games well." He noted positive signs from his players over recent days. In their match against Inter, Milan displayed a balanced approach throughout the game.

Their recent Coppa Italia semi-final first leg against Inter ended in a 1-1 draw. With Champions League hopes fading, winning this competition could secure them a Europa League spot. Conceicao stressed the importance of players having the right mentality and personality to defend their club's honour consistently.

Milan's journey this season has been challenging, with fluctuating performances affecting their league standing. As they strive for improvement, maintaining focus on both defensive solidity and attacking efficiency will be crucial for achieving better results in upcoming matches.
