Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen secured a narrow 2-1 victory against Union Berlin, thanks to a decisive second-half goal by Patrik Schick. Schick, who recently scored a hat-trick against Heidenheim and netted in the Champions League win over RB Salzburg, found the net again in the 71st minute. This marked Leverkusen's second win in their last five league matches.

Leverkusen took an early lead just two minutes into the match. Jeremie Frimpong broke free and scored after receiving a perfectly timed pass from Alejandro Grimaldo. Despite this early advantage, Leverkusen struggled to maintain an attacking threat, allowing Union Berlin to grow more confident as the game progressed.

Union Berlin, boasting the league's second-best defence after Bayern Munich, managed to equalise in the 29th minute. In response, Leverkusen introduced Florian Wirtz just before the hour mark. The substitution proved effective as Wirtz delivered a precise cross into the box for Schick to score the winning goal. This victory placed Leverkusen third in the standings with 23 points, while Union Berlin remained in 11th place with 16 points.

Patrik Schick has been in remarkable form, scoring in his last three Bundesliga appearances. His latest goal marked his 48th in his 100th Bundesliga match for Leverkusen, equalling Ulf Kirsten's club record. Leverkusen have now scored eight goals across their last three league games.
