Size does matter, Carragher tells United!

But Isco would have been wearing the Red shirt if not United went by a bizarre scout report

Isco

Bengaluru, August 10: Manchester United's decision not sign Isco in the 2013 transfer window has come to haunt them four years later after the Spaniard starred in Real Madrid's 2-1 win against the Reds in the UEFA Super Cup final on Tuesday night.

Isco netted the second goal for Real in the match held at the National Arena in Skopje, Macedonia, and it virtually killed the match as a contest.

But Isco would have been wearing the Red shirt if not United went by a bizarre scout report that the attacking midfielder, who was then playing for La Liga club Malaga, had a head which was supposed to be bigger for his body.

According to a report which came in ESPN, a United scout report from 2013 on the then 21-year-old read: "He's good, but not quite quick enough and his head is too big for his body."

Twitteratti was quick to pounce on this gaffe by United and leading the chorus was former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher.

Quoting the ESPN story, Carragher tweeted,

Football pundits and social media sites also went on the rampage over the funny issue.

It looks as though United had to pay the penalty for the 'size does matter' story as for the time being they are the receiving end of all the jokes.

United begin their Premier League campaign with a home game against West Ham United on Sunday (August 13).
