USWNT Achieves Milestone With 600th Victory Over Republic Of Ireland In Friendly Match

Emma Hayes' USWNT secured a dominant 4-0 victory against the Republic of Ireland, celebrating their 600th win. The match showcased impressive performances from debutants and highlighted the team's depth and consistency.

The United States women's soccer team, led by Emma Hayes, achieved a decisive 4-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland in Cincinnati. This friendly match saw an experimental lineup from Hayes, yet the team dominated with goals from Lynn Biyendolo, Izzy Rodriguez, Yazmeen Ryan, and Alyssa Thompson. The USA registered 25 shots and an expected goals tally of 3.02 compared to Ireland's 0.21, who failed to hit the target.

This win marked the USA's 600th victory in their history, with more than half (318) of these wins achieved by at least a three-goal margin. Notably, all starting players in this match are part of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), a first since January 2023. Since early 2025, 36 different players have started for the team, matching records set in 2000 and 2001.

Despite experimenting with her squad selection, Hayes observed consistent performances from her players. "I feel like everybody is not just trusting the process, but they are carrying out all the things we asked them to do," she stated. Emma Sears contributed significantly by assisting the opening goal while playing in her home state of Ohio.

Sears highlighted how recent training camps have been beneficial for her development. "Over the past few months, it's been really helpful each camp," she noted. She focused on improving off-the-ball movement and decision-making speed during these sessions. Her efforts paid off as she played a crucial role in setting up Rodriguez's goal.

Izzy Rodriguez expressed enthusiasm about scoring on her debut for the national team. "It's really competitive, and I love a good competitive training environment," she said after becoming the first player since Christen Press in 2013 to score on her debut as a starter. Rodriguez appreciated the support from teammates and staff.

Hayes' squad now prepares for their next challenge against Canada on Wednesday. This upcoming match promises to be another test for this evolving team as they continue to build on their recent successes and maintain their momentum in international football competitions.
