Federico Valverde delivered a ruthless first-half hat-trick against Manchester City, prompting strong praise from Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. The treble made Valverde only the fifth player to score a first-half hat-trick in a Champions League knockout match, and just the second to do it against an English team, after Lionel Messi achieved the feat for Barcelona against Arsenal in April 2010.
