Virgil van Dijk remains committed to Liverpool, despite his contract nearing its end. The Dutch defender has less than a year left on his current deal but is not considering leaving Anfield. He emphasised his focus on performing well under new head coach Arne Slot.
Van Dijk celebrated his 100th Premier League appearance for Liverpool with a clean sheet in their 2-0 victory over Brentford. Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah scored the goals that secured the win. This match marked Liverpool's second consecutive win under Slot's leadership.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Van Dijk expressed his calmness about his contract situation. "I am very calm," he said. "The thing is, I want to play the best season I can. I want to be important and stay important to the club. Then, we will see."
The defender joined Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018 and has been a key player since then. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, Van Dijk is focused on helping the team succeed under Slot.
Van Dijk acknowledged the transition from Jurgen Klopp to Arne Slot, stating that while Klopp's era was memorable, it's time to support the new coach. "We had an amazing time [under Klopp], and now it is a time for the new boss to hopefully be successful," he noted.
The Dutchman also highlighted his role in assisting Slot and the backroom staff. "I told him [Slot] that from day one, and I will help them and the backroom staff," he added.
With his extensive experience at Liverpool, Van Dijk feels an added responsibility towards the team. "Obviously, [I have] that extra responsibility because I know the players inside and out," he mentioned.
He reiterated his commitment to being successful with Liverpool and working closely with Slot to achieve their goals. "I want to be successful, and we are in the same boat," he concluded.
Liverpool fans will be hoping Van Dijk's presence continues to bolster their defence as they aim for success this season under Slot's guidance.
