Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk states that Andy Robertson should remain at Anfield beyond the transfer window, despite reported talks with Tottenham. Robertson, a long-serving full-back, is said to be discussing a move to the Premier League rivals while entering the final months of a current deal.
Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017 and has become a key figure in defence. The 31-year-old Scotland international has collected nine major trophies with the club, including two Premier League titles and a Champions League crown, underlining a major contribution over several seasons.

The left-back has recently lost a regular starting place, with close-season signing Milos Kerkez often preferred in the role. With a World Cup campaign ahead for Scotland and a contract expiring at the end of the season, Robertson could consider a move, and when asked if Robertson would still be involved against Qarabag in the Champions League, Van Dijk answered: "That's not on me, is it?"
Van Dijk spoke after Liverpool’s 3-2 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth, where the captain underlined Robertson’s status within the squad hierarchy. Van Dijk said: "He's my vice-captain. Robbo is a very important member of our team and I want him to stay but whatever happens, let's see." The comments highlight both admiration and uncertainty during this period.
The late defeat to Bournemouth, underlined by OptaJoe’s statistic on Liverpool’s 90th-minute concessions this league season, adds extra pressure around the squad. With interest from Tottenham, Robertson’s reduced minutes, and a crucial Champions League tie with Qarabag approaching, Liverpool face a key decision on the vice-captain’s future.
