Van Nistelrooy Yet To Discuss Future With Incoming Manager Amorim At Manchester United

Ruud van Nistelrooy has not yet spoken to Ruben Amorim regarding his future at Manchester United. Following a draw against Chelsea, he expressed optimism about the team's performance and upcoming matches.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has not yet communicated with Ruben Amorim, the incoming Manchester United manager, after leading the team to a draw against Chelsea. In his first Premier League match as interim manager, Van Nistelrooy saw Bruno Fernandes score from a penalty in the 70th minute following Robert Sanchez's foul on Rasmus Hojlund. However, Moises Caicedo equalised four minutes later at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy will manage United's next two fixtures against PAOK in the Europa League and Leicester City before Amorim takes over on November 11. The Dutchman joined Erik ten Hag's coaching staff in July, but it is uncertain if he will stay at Old Trafford once Amorim arrives. "Over the coming days we will be in communication, and I am waiting for that," Van Nistelrooy stated.

Van Nistelrooy Awaits Discussion with Amorim

Despite the draw, Van Nistelrooy was pleased with the team's performance. "I am disappointed we didn’t win; we had better chances," he said. "But overall, the performance was fantastic. They left their all out there on the pitch." He expressed pride in Fernandes' goal and described the week as special.

The result moved United to 12 points but marked their worst start after 10 league games since 1986-87 when they had eight points. Their total of nine goals is also their lowest at this stage since 1973-74. Despite these stats, Van Nistelrooy remained positive about the team's display.

Player Reactions and Future Focus

Fernandes echoed his manager's sentiments but acknowledged frustration among teammates at full-time. "We did fight; we could have won," he said. "Chelsea also played well; it was good from both teams but not the result we wanted." Fernandes has scored 32 of his 36 penalties for United (89%), with three against Chelsea being his joint-most against any opponent.

Van Nistelrooy emphasised the importance of focusing on upcoming matches and supporting Amorim upon his arrival. "We are behind the new manager," he noted. "Everyone at the club is focusing on these two important games, then we'll work hard to make this club better every day."
