Victor Lindelof opens up on life at Manchester United

Manchester, August 31: Manchester United new signing Victor Lindelof has stated that it has been difficult for him to watch his team from the sidelines after failing to make the cut for matchday squad even once in the first three games of the Premier League.

After a poor pre season and an average performance against Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup, Lindelof has been left out of United's Premier League side for its initial three games, and couldn't even make the substitutes bench in all the matches.

United's defensive partnership between Eric Bailly and Phil Jones has been a hit so far as Jose Mourinho's men have already kept three back to back clean sheets, with Chris Smalling the only other centre back on the bench.

In Lindelof's defence, Mourinho had earlier referred that the omission of the 23-year-old was only to give him time to adjust to life in England, he did the same last season with Mkhitaryan.

In a recent interview the defender agreed to the part of his manager's point of view but claimed he is eager to play in the Red shirt at the earliest.

"It's been good," Lindelof told VNL when asked about his start at United. "The initial period is very important to get to know the club and everything around it, all the players, coaches and the system. So it's been a very important time for me.

"Of course you always want to play, but the competition is tough with very good players so we'll see what happens. But of course you always want to play."

When questioned about Mourinho's choice not to pick him so far, Lindelof added: "I don't know. I've just arrived at the club, I've been there for less than two months. So it's a process. The last week of training went very well and I feel I'm getting into it more and more."

The Swedish international also stated that he is not worried about his limited playing time as he is developing his playing style under Mourinho and wants to improve as a player under him to return in the starting line up as soon as possible.

He said: "We have good talks, he's a very good coach and I think I will develop enormously under him. So it feels good."

Lindelof could get the nod in United's opening Champions League fixture against Basel as both the current first choice defenders Bailly and Jones will not be available for selection as the duo are suspended from the tie.
