Viktor Gyokeres has scored his first goal for Arsenal, which was notably a brilliant header against Athletic Club on Saturday (August 9).
The Sweden international headed past Unai Simon brilliantly after a Martin Zubimendi cross and gave Arsenal the lead in their final pre-season friendly at the Emirates Stadium.

Prior to this, Gyokeres had his first start for Arsenal in a preseason match against Villarreal, where he did not score but showed promising signs with his attacking play. Arsenal lost that match 3-2, with goals from other players rather than Gyokeres.
Gyokeres made fantastic movement to get to the end of the cross from Zubimendi, and found the net brilliantly. Earlier in the match, he had a chance from a Bukayo Saka pass but fluffed his shot. The Sweden international celebrated in his traditional fashion, with the fingers of both hands intertwined against each other masking his face as Emirates Stadium erupted in joy. After Gyokeres found the net, Arsenal doubled their lead soon as Bukayo Saka scored brilliantly, giving Arsenal a 2-0 lead at half time.
Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP in a high-profile transfer deal worth €63 million as guaranteed fee, plus potential add-ons of €10 million based on performance. He signed a five-year contract with Arsenal. The transfer fee makes Gyokeres one of Arsenal's most expensive signings.
Gyökeres is 27 years old and had a stellar record at Sporting CP, scoring 97 goals in 102 matches over two seasons and helping them to consecutive league championships. Before Sporting, he played for Coventry City, where he impressed with 43 goals in two and a half seasons, and had earlier stints at Brighton, Swansea City, and St. Pauli.
