Dusan Vlahovic Faces Injury Lay-Off As Juventus Manager Spalletti Confirms Setback

Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic is set for a lay-off following an injury sustained against Cagliari. Manager Luciano Spalletti discusses the impact on the team and potential replacements.

Luciano Spalletti has announced that Dusan Vlahovic will be absent from the Juventus lineup following an injury sustained against Cagliari. Vlahovic, who was Juve's top scorer in Serie A with three goals before the match, left the field after 31 minutes, visibly upset. At that point, Kenan Yildiz had equalised for Juve just a minute after Sebastiano Esposito gave Cagliari the lead.

Yildiz completed the comeback during first-half stoppage time, helping Juventus reach 23 points and secure seventh place. However, they now face playing without Vlahovic for a while. Spalletti informed reporters: "It is a strain and he will be out for some time." Jonathan David replaced Vlahovic on the field.

Vlahovic Injury Lay-Off Confirmed by Spalletti

The Canadian international, Jonathan David, has struggled to find his form since joining from Lille. Despite not having any shots on target, he created two chances during the game. Spalletti expressed satisfaction with David's performance, stating: "I think David allowed us to get out there many times and he bonded very well with the team. He's a technically clean player and knows how to handle the ball."

Lois Openda has also found it challenging to secure playing time. Spalletti believes this period could be crucial for both Openda and David to prove their abilities. He mentioned that there might be other tactical options available: "David and Openda are central attackers," he said. "David could potentially play as a second striker."

Openda is known for his speed and ability to make runs into the box, while David excels at carrying the ball. Both players have strong goal-scoring capabilities. Spalletti added: "They're both very good at scoring goals. They're both sensitive and good guys." He emphasised that building confidence through scoring consistently is essential for their development.

The coach acknowledged that players need to earn success independently in football: "Everyone has doubts, and they're the ones who can clear them up." This period presents an opportunity for both forwards to step up in Vlahovic's absence.
