Cape Verde's veteran goalkeeper Vozinha, who captured the world's attention with his sensational performances at this summer's World Cup, has reached an agreement to join Chilean powerhouse.

The confirmation came directly from Colo-Colo club president Anibal Mosa on Friday, speaking to local media ahead of his side's domestic league fixture against Deportes Limache.

"We can confirm Vozinha will be a Colo-Colo player," Mosa announced. "We have an agreement; the final details are being ironed out, but we already have confirmation from his entourage and his representative. We reached an agreement based on a proposal that we submitted."

Vozinha: From Free Agent to Global Sensation

Vozinha entered the World Cup as a free agent after his contract with Portuguese second-division side Chaves expired at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. Over a career spanning two decades, the veteran shot-stopper has played for various clubs across Cape Verde, Moldova, Slovakia, and Cyprus.

At 40 years and 12 days old, he made history by becoming the oldest player to feature in a country's debut World Cup match. He instantly shot to international stardom during Cape Verde's opening game, delivering a Player of the Match performance in a memorable 0-0 draw against the eventual champions Spain. Vozinha produced seven crucial saves to keep the Spanish attack at bay.

His stellar display against Spain sparked a viral internet phenomenon. Before the World Cup match, his Instagram account had around 50,000 followers; that figure has since exploded to an incredible 29.5 million followers.

Vozinha continued to anchor Cape Verde's defense throughout the tournament, starting in all four of his country's matches. He kept another clean sheet in a group-stage fixture against Saudi Arabia, helping the small island nation qualify for the round of 32.

Following Cape Verde's elimination, the 91-time international received a unique honor back home when scientists named a newly discovered species of marine mollusk after him, Aldisa vozinhai (commonly known as Vozinha's sea slug).
